We are a group of people from different backgrounds. In
our meetings you will find young and old, singles and families, people
from various trades and professions, with different hobbies and
interests, skills and education and from a variety of ethnic
backgrounds. Yet we have one thing in common: our
lives have been changed by God through Jesus Christ. We all want to live
for God and please him rather than ourselves, because we have all had an
eye-opening experience of his great love.

The Leadership
Our leadership consists of a Pastor (or minister), and
people called Elders and Deacons. They are just a group of ordinary
people, both men and women, who serve God by assisting the pastor in
leading the fellowship. Most have jobs outside the church as well.

Currently, there are two elders and seven deacons who meet
regularly with the pastor to pray and make decisions concerning
the fellowship's work in Westhoughton, Britain and beyond. The
deacons include the Church Secretary and Church Treasurer.
Links with other Churches
The
fellowship is affiliated to the Assemblies of God
(a worldwide group of
Pentecostal Churches) and a member of the
Evangelical Alliance
which is
a national association of Pentecostal, Anglican, Methodist, Baptist and
many other denominational groups of churches.
We are also members of Westhoughton Churches Together as we
join in making Jesus Christ known in our locality
Why
are we called Pentecostal?
Pentecost is a Jewish festival, also called Shavuot meaning weeks. It was
the first Pentecost after Jesus had risen from the dead that the Holy
Spirit was sent from God to the Church.
We
believe that the Holy Spirit still lives and works in the church as much
now as he did then. He does so by living and working through every
member of the church, in other words in everyone who has invited Jesus
Christ to be their Lord and Saviour.
