Elizabeth has been part of our fellowship for over twenty years, yet
even though she has attended church since she was a child, it was not
until her thirties with two children that she met Jesus Christ in a real
way. Here, in her own words, she explains what happened.... |

Answered
Prayer
As a child, I was taken to St James Church Daisy Hill. When I reached the
age of seven I was at school and was confronted with a problem I was
unable to solve. So I did the only thing I could, I prayed. God answered
that prayer and from then on I believed in God and acknowledged him as my
Father in Heaven. I went through Sunday School and the Youth. It was at St
James that I met my husband, Alan. I then went on to be a Sunday School
Teacher and Sideswoman, and was very happy with my Church life.
Relief at a Difficult Time
As time went by, I had two children and was going through a difficult
time. I prayed to God to show me what it was that I needed to do. A
friend, Rose, with whom I had worked, and her husband Eddie asked me if I
knew Jesus.
“Of course I know
Jesus,” I replied, “I’d always gone to Church and knew what he did
on the cross.”
Rose went on to explain that he had died for my sins. But I thought
I had no sin. I had not been bad like some, or done terrible things.
However, it made me think and on a November night in 1981 while walking
along the backs of Church Street going to my mum’s, I asked God that if
I had been missing something and if there was more to him than I already
knew then show me. Right then, I saw things clearly, as if a curtain had
been lifted and it had become light. I realised I had sinned. If only by
the wrong things I had said or the promises I had not kept. Even the bad
thoughts I may have at times and I realised more things in my life that
did not make me perfect as God wanted. I then remembered what Rose and
Eddie had said and it all fit together that Jesus had died for my sins to
make me clean before God and that whether it was a small sin or a big one,
it was still sin.
Like Minded
I accepted Jesus as my Saviour. Since then I have come to worship
him with others of like mind and have found fellowship and love. If you
are searching, turn to God, believing Jesus died for you, and as you begin
to find him you too will begin to see how things fit together in your
life.
This same Jesus whom Elizabeth received is willing to make his home
in your life too. Once you have discovered the truth for yourself, you
will never regret it.
More
to come
As time has gone on Alan, Elizabeth's husband, and Rose, Eddie's wife,
have both gone on to be with Christ through death.
However, in 2004 Elizabeth and Eddie were married again, to
each other.
