True Story

May found someone who listens.............

May Morris has been part of the fellowship for a long time. Here she describes how she and her twin sister discovered someone who listens ........

Westhoughton born and bred
I  am so thankful I can share about the goodness of God in my life. Being born and brought up in Westhoughton, and as a family we had a good Mum and Dad who were not religious but were very kind to us. We went to a Church School and went along to the Sunday School occasionally.

I remember my twin sister and I as children attending some Christian services -the preacher gave us all a sweet after he had finished which may have been why we attended them. At the age of 12 years I remember going back to school at 5pm to enjoy children’s services by some Church Army people and along with my sister kneeling and asking God to come into my life. As I look back realizing what we had done we did not understand it or gain any knowledge of God.

Years later ....a visitor
Many, many years after, along with my sister, we went to hear a man called Mr Tocker from Northern Ireland preaching in the village where we lived. This made us realize the call of God  was upon us and asked God to come into our lives. From then onwards we prayed and attended these services and God became so real and precious. He changed my life and through reading His word and understanding it more and praying, I became very much aware that God was the true and living God who hears and answers prayer. Each day he has become more precious. To know God is the greatest thing this side of Heaven. Not just knowing about Him but knowing Him as a person who can reveal himself to us. I can say that he walks with me and talks with me day by day.

In the Bible there are some very wonderful promises that the Lord has said.

“Him that cometh to me I will no wise cast out” John 6:37

“Come unto me all ye that are weary and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28

Put your life in his hands
God means what he says. Put your life in his hands and trust him. He has become to me a friend that loves me at all times and He can do the same for you. I love the Lord - God is good.

Since May shared this with us, on 8th January 2007 at about 4 am she departed this life and is now united forever with the precious Saviour whom she describes here.
