|
"The work is extensive and spread
out,
and we are widely separated from each other along the wall.
Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there.
Our God will fight for us!"
|
Nehemiah 4:19-20
|
I also told them about the gracious hand
of my God upon me ....
..."Let us start rebuilding."
So they began this good work.
|
Nehemiah
2:18
|
|
Since 1986 I have been a full time missionary minister committed to
serve God and his people. God gave me a vision start a ministry to the
Hamar people group who live in southern Ethiopia near the borders of
Sudan and Kenya. The nearest city is Jinka about 850 km from Addis Ababa
|
|
These
people are totally unreached and live as in the stone age. They are
isolated from the rest of the world. They are illiterate
and live naked though
the women will cover their bodies with goat skin.
|
|
Since 2001 some volunteers and I have been able to take the
Good News of Jesus Christ to hundreds of people in the area of Turmi and
Bita through one to one evangelism, open air meetings and drama. We have
also shown them Christ through deeds of kindness such as providing
medicine, food, water, training, teaching, children care etc...
During this
time we have had about 25 decisions to receive Christ. There have been
several miracles, including
healings. They have accepted me as a friend
with an usual love and openness.

Hamar Children,
Takele is in the white vest!
|
|
My ultimate
goal is in God to proclaim Christ to everyone in the area so that each
person has an opportunity hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In doing so I
should like to start child care groups, give training about harmful
traditional practices and to plant a church among this society. In doing
so I hope for God to bring transformation and new life, spiritually,
physically, socially, mentally, academically, as fully as possible.
|
|
The process has begun and this is what has already been started
|
|
·
Regular
visitis to the people so that there is constant communication.
·
Provision of medical
treatments, including the teaching and treatment of the victims of harmful
traditional practices, especially the women, and presenting the Good News
of Jesus Christ
·
Provision
of land for the building of a kindergarten
· October
2004 - Agreement with Hamar elders reached in order to begin construction
of the school and a small clinic. Takele reports, "it is amazing to
see such a openness in Hamar. For centuries they refuse to send their
children to the school, but now it is God who changes the Hamar. Please
pray for this."

A
Typical Visit
March 27th - April 7th 2004
|
- We
met every evening for prayer and short Bible message.
- God is answering our
prayers because some men and women are now responding,
- Most
wonderfully one woman was released from demonic possession.
-
Teaching alphabets (Amharic and English) to 32 children, 3 boys and 6girls.
-
Collecting stones for future community multifunctional house
- Providing
Medication and treating sick people
- During
this and recent visits the people do not have enough food so many are hungry
|
Please
continue to pray for and support the work especially for the thousands of
suffering Hamar women. One of the strategies of Satan here is to crush
women. The challenge to those involved is the support of the work in both
prayer and finance and finding adequate transportation to what is a remote
area.
|
|
|
|
The vision is to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to these people
through:
|
|
Evangelism

and establishment of kindergarten on the land already obtained so that
pre-school children may be taught letters, Amharic, Local Language,
English and Counting

|
Who
will accomplish this task?
|
|
·
Most
importantly, God almighty Himself.
·
Individuals
committed to serve God in the field.
·
Christians wanting to serve God and his purpose in
their lifetime through their support in both prayer and finance.
This is a
great opportunity to involve yourself and your church in the expansion of
the kingdom of God and to serve our brothers and sisters.
